Gregg Gustafson started the Brighton program in 2003 for 6th-8th grade players. As this program grew, he worked with US Lacrosse, the MHSAA and MHSLCA to start a program at the High School level. Gustafson coached the High School team at Brighton for four years and developed a coaching tree along the way. Currently, there are eight coaches working at various levels throughout the state that Gustafson mentored. He continued to direct the Brighton High School Club program until 2015, when it transitioned to the athletic director. Gregg has given much to the game, most notably and in line with the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of US Lacrosse, where he introduced the sport at the Haskell Community Center in collaboration with the Flint P.A.L. He also worked with the Crimm Fitness Foundation to bring lacrosse to the Flint school system. As part of the introduction of lacrosse in Flint, he partnered with Warrior Lacrosse who donated sticks and equipment. Warrior partnered with Gregg and other vendors to set up a “Lacrosse Day” in the inner city of Flint. Gregg still mentors young players and coaches on and off the field. He certainly does this work for “the love of the game”.
