All American Selection Process
US Lacrosse is the organization that recognizes and provides high school recognition for All American. The number of AA recipients is a ratio of AA’s to the number of varsity high school programs. The 2005 allotment is 12 for Michigan
The Michigan Process:
Each MHSLCA Coach may nominate potential candidates for this prestigious honor.
o Nominated players need not be members of US Lacrosse
o Nominated players need not be seniors
o Nominated players need not be members of the nominating coach’s team
o Nominated players must meet the minimum criteria:
1. Be a dominant player within the team’s league, conference, regional and regular season play – not merely the best player on your team – and would be recognized by opposing coaches as such.
2. Must be selected as a 1st team All State Player as determined by the MHSCAA All State Process at the end of season MHSLCA meeting in June.
3. Be a player who represents their school and the game of lacrosse with integrity and character.
A MHSLCA Committee of Selected Coaches shall meet
and review the candidates.
The Head Coach of the finalists shall have one (1) minute to speak on behalf of their player in front of MHSLCA membership; an additional 1 minute shall be awarded for others in the membership to speak on behalf of the nominee.
The ballots for All America shall be distributed to the MHSLCA head coach who is a current member of US Lacrosse.
